From January 8th to 11th, the first overseas sewing equipment exhibition of 2025, the Bangladesh International Sewing Equipment Exhibition (GTB) 2025, was held at the International Convention Center in the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka. This year’s exhibition featured nearly 200 exhibitors, with an exhibition area of 15,000 square meters and approximately 20,000 professional visitors. Over 30 Chinese sewing enterprises, including Jack, SGG, Zoje, Maqi, Typical, Hikari, and more, along with their overseas dealers, showcased their core technology products at the GTB 2025, marking the highest number of participating brands in the history of Chinese sewing enterprises.

The textile and garment industry is the backbone of Bangladesh's economy. The country is the world's second-largest exporter of garments, with its denim exports holding the top spot globally. According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the textile and garment sector accounts for about 18% of the country's GDP and maintains an average annual growth rate of around 6%. In the fiscal year 2023 to 2024, Bangladesh's textile and garment industry achieved export revenues of $48 billion, representing over 80% of the country's total exports.

Bangladesh is also an important export market for China's sewing machine industry. Statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that from January to November 2024, China exported $126 million worth of sewing machines to Bangladesh, a year-on-year increase of 25.80%. Both the export value and the proportion of exports have shown an upward trend. Bangladesh is now the fifth-largest export market for Chinese sewing machines, following India, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Brazil. According to estimates from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh's share of the global garment export market is expected to exceed 10% in 2025. The huge demand for sewing machine products in Bangladesh, coupled with the shift of overseas orders since the pandemic, has significantly boosted the local garment factories' demand for various high-efficiency and automated sewing machine equipment. In recent years, Chinese sewing machine companies have continuously increased their efforts to expand overseas markets, actively participating in international exhibitions to tap into and deepen their presence in the Bangladeshi market.
